Crayons and online services

Are we seeing a new online design trend emerge? I just spotted the similarities between the design of some pages from Dropbox and Vimeo. Instead of just the clean and techy design, it seems they have picked the crayons for some hand-drawn awesomeness. I like.

Have you seen any other online services that have picked up the more artsy tone?

Love those designs as well. Feels very inviting, simple and easy to use.

I saw a presentation created in KeyNote a while back that used a minimalstic handwritten design. Worked really great.

Back in the day we used to create icons with pen and paper, then scan them. Tedious but really fun process where we had to involve more creative friends to partake in creating the website design. 🙂

I believe we’ll see more of this. Back to design basics. 🙂

    Agreed!

Spotify incorporates hand-drawn designs on their website. Check “About Spotify” and the various presentation videos.

It’s very inviting with a simple and easy-to-use feel to their product. 🙂
