Don’t fear shiny objects.

Shiny Object Syndrome – “Where people focus all attention on something that is current and trendy, yet drop this as soon as something new takes its place.”

I believe that the FEAR of falling victim of the Shiny Object Syndrome STIFLES innovation teams more than the negative impact of the occasional impact of ACTUAL Shiny Object Syndrome.

What new products and services, derived from the last few years of technology driven innovation, have not been in the “Shiny Object Syndrome” category; artificial intelligence, IoT, cloud, new business models, connected homes, autonomous driving… and so on.

If business impact and outcome is understood and prioritized, don’t fear being up close and personal with anything… shiny or not.
